Physical Description Struts
Optional Fixed Struts
Gabriel antennas are provided with adjustable and fixed side struts noted in the Tables of Mechanical Specifications. Under normal circumstances, these provide sufficient stability for operational and survival conditions. In those instances where additional struts are requested to increase the rigidity or ice load capability of the antennas, the following optional fixed struts are available.
Unless otherwise stated, these strut assemblies consist of a 10.5 foot length of standard 1.5 inch IPS steel tubing with attachment hardware to mount to a flat surface on the tower. No threading or drilling of the strut is required.
“GL” & “GH” Series Parabolic Grid Strut
The FSG OPTIONAL SIDE STRUT attaches to the rim of the “GL” & ‘GH” Series grid parabolic antenna. For 4 ft. (1.2) antennas, it is identical to the first fixed strut normally supplied with 6 ft. (1.8) grid and “SE” antennas and attaches to the mount.
The FSG OPTIONAL BOTTOM STRUT is similar to the FSG Optional Side Strut. It consists of a 3.5 ft. length of tubing and attachment hardware to mount to a 4.5 inch 0. D. mast pipe at the level of the bottom edge 4 ft. (1.2) through 12 ft. (3.7) antennas.
“GL” and “GH” Grid Series Strut Selection Table
Grid Diameter | Side Struts Provided | Optional Struts Available
4 | 1.2 | – | – | FSSE-4* | FSG-2B |
6 | 1.8 | 1 | – | FSG-2 | FSG-2B |
6 (A) | 1.8 | 1 | – | FSG-2** | FSG-2B** |
8 | 2.4 | 1 | – | FSG-2 | FSG-2B |
10 | 3.0 | 1 | – | FSG-1 | FSG1B |
12 | 3.7 | 1 | 1 | FSG-1 | FSG1B |
* If a second optional strut is desired for a 4 ft. (1.2) Grid antenna, request either FSG-2 or FSG-2B as desired.
** For 6 ft. (1.8) Standard A “GH” Grid Series, FSG-2A may be required; consult with your mWAVE Sales / Engineering.
“SE” Series Type Strut
The FSSE OPTIONAL SIDE STRUT attaches to the rim of the “SE” Series Parabolic antenna. For 4 ft. (1.2) antennas, the strut is similar to the first strut on the 6 ft. (1.8) and also attaches to the mount.
The FSSE OPTIONAL BOTTOM STRUT is similar to the FSSE Optional Side Strut. It consists of a 3.5 ft. length of tubing and attachment hardware to mount to a 4.5 inch O.D. mast pipe at the level of the bottom edge of 6 ft. through 12 ft. antennas.
“SE” Series Strut Selection Table
“SE” Series Diameter | Antenna Type | Side Struts Provided | Optional Struts Available
ft | m | Adjust. | Fixed | Side | Bottom
2 | 0.6 | Std. & HP | – | – | FSSE-3 | – |
2.5 | 0.9 | Std. & HP | – | – | FSSE-3 | – |
4 | 1.2 | Std. & HP | – | – | FSSE-4 | – |
6 | 1.8 | Std. & HP | 1 | – | FSSE-2* | FSSE-2B* |
8 – 10 | 2.4 – 3.0 | Std. | 1 | – | FSSE-2* | FSSE-2B* |
8 – 10 | 2.4 – 3.0 | HP | 1 | 1 | FSSE-2* | FSSE-2B* |
12 | 3.7 | Std. & HP | 1 | 1 | FSSE-1 | FSSE-1B |
6 ft. (1.8) thru 10 ft. (3.0) antennas configured for severe environments may utilize a reinforced reflector rim, in which case FSSE-1 or FSSE-1B struts should be requested. Severe Environment model antennas are available. Contact your mWAVE Sales / Engineering for details.
